Welcome to Alustar: the Awakening!
first, an introduction.
to play, you must create a character in the character index thread. you must list your characters name, class (feel free to make up a class), weapon, special powers, and short biography. if you want, you can also put a picture in. I recommend tektek.org to create a customized avatar. just click dream avatar.
to advance your stats, simply post!
we ask that you list all stat bonuses recieved from items in your character creation page. it is your responsibility to add them up in pvp.
To attack, you must hit the reply button (not quick reply!) and state your attack. it can be anything you want, but try to keep it generally realistic. once you are done, click the button that says [attack rates]. this will place a randomly generated damage percent bar in the post. you may NOT edit a post with an attack in it, or it will be deleted.
to block, first you must have a higher stamina statistic than the attacker's strength. then, if the attack count is even, you still take damage. however, if it is odd, you receive none. it is a player's responsibility to go through this process and state whether or not it has been blocked. blocking is used in pvp only.
to equip an item, first you must buy it or find it. in the explore game mode, you can find many shops that offer different things. In staff created quests, a reward will be issued to all alive at the end of the quest unless otherwise specified. in player created dungeons, a single treasure chest may exist. this can contain items. a player must list all items they own in their signature. if a player lists an item they do no have, they will be warned and if they do not change it, banned. to equip, simply place [equip] next to an item. only one item of each category (with the exception of accessory- you are allowed three of those) may be equipped at once. these are: primary weapon, secondary weapon/shield, primary armor, secondary armor, helm, cloak, and accessory.
The game modes are the following: quests let you participate in quests and use teamwork as you defeat enemies. pvp allows you to fight one on one battles with other players, and explore allows you to explore the world and buy items.
to enter quest, click on the quests sub board and select a quest. you can join at any time. to enter pvp, just create a thread on the main board stating you and your opponent's names. your opponent does not have to answer the challenge. to enter explore, click the explore sub board and click the teleporter-start here thread.
damage is counted in different ways. in quest, the damage percentage is at face value and once you reach 100, you die (this is to ensure players are always challenged and to encourage teamwork). in pvp, you use the hp stat and the damage is not percent, but straight damage.
in a quest, you can heal using a power (purchasable in the shops on the main board) or when a administrator declares a time of healing outside of battle. in pvp, you can only use powers.
the magic stat is used to cast spells. in the rpg support board, there are various spells you can use. to use one, you must be a certain magic level, stated after each spell.
we ask that you put a copy of your profile in your signature, but just name class, and owned items/provinces.
check the real estate status thread for info on who owns what plot of land. to buy one, you can contact the owner with an offer. all transactions of land must be with both player's consent and a staff member's approval.
to play in pvp, create a thread with a name like "player 1 vs. player 2", player 1 being you and player 2 being your opponent. if the other player accepts, begin battle immediately. you can place wagers, too (see bottom of page)
you may be wondering how you can earn gold, other than posting. there are three ways. one, you can place a wager in pvp. for wagers to be eligible, they must be equal to or over 1000 gold and the other player must agree to it. when you or your opponent win, the winner HAS to contact a staff member. the staff member will check to see if he really won, and the gold will be awarded ( the loser will only lose half of what was wagered). The second way to earn gold is quest rewards. Staff members can create any type of quest reward, and normal members can create dungeons with a treasure chest. In order for a reward to be eligible for all parties, the reward must be equal to or greater than in value to 1000 gold. The limit to a quest prize is either one unique item (staff members only) or gold or items equal to 5000 gold. conditions upon which the creator can distribute a uniuqe item are: last hit to kill a certain monster, last hit to kill final monster, or last man standing. creators can win the reward. all members standing at the end of the quest all get the gold reward. Finally, the last way to earn gold. say you receive an item in a quest that, while being powerful, you cannot or do not want to use. You can contact a player for a trade. to reach a larger audience, you can create an auction thread for people to post offer. once you and the other party are satisfied, contact a staff member and he or she will make the trade. both gold and items can be traded.
version 2 updates
player created dungeons:
all dungeons have a max of 20 rooms. each room can only contain 1 monster. users can use any monster in the support sub board, but only if it's listed level is equal to the creator's. The creator must make a thread for their dungeon with the title format "player's dungeon". it is reccomended that a dungeon is mapped out on paper before use. to play a dungeon, let's simulate one. say there are three players wanting to join a dungeon. the creator starts by describing the first room and it's contents. after that room is cleared, the creator then gives the players a choice as to which room to go to next, and the players vote. this continues until the final room, which contains the treasure chest. players can choose either an amount of gold less than or equal to than what they have (to no expense to the creator) or up to 5 items they have (ditto). after the chest is looted (only living players can recieve rewards and the creator distributes the items by contacting a staff member) the players have finished the dungeon. dungeons can be modified on the fly to add suspense.
to start a guild/clan war, the leadder of the challenging guild must make a post listing his/her guild and who they are attacking, seperated by vs. (guild1 vs. guild2). as soon as the opposing leader accepts (they do not have to). the battle begins. any amount of players may fight, as long as they are in one such guilds. players CAN attack members of their own guild, creating opportunity for sabotage and bribery. however, this may be grounds for expulsion. in guild wars, you can only use powers to heal yourself, not other players. once either the leader of one side surrenders, or all members on one side are dead, then if the attacker won, they take the place of the defender in the guild leaderboard. you cannot attack guilds lower ranked. if the winner was the defender, they recieve 2000 gold to put in the guild coffers. the guild coffers can only be used if voted to be used by a majority of the members that participate in the vote. it can only be added on to from guild v guild combat. it can be used for any purpose, as long as it is voted for.
faction combat is the same as guild combat, but with a few differences. to form a faction, the leaders of 2 or more guilds must both consent to state the faction they are part of on their guild page. then, any one guild leader can start a faction war. the reward for winning a faction war is a choice of one of the Shapeless set of items (see main board.)
to be continued...
